Roger Federer reaches Shanghai Masters Quarterfinals
Roger Federer beat Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-4 6-2 to reach the Shanghai masters quarterfinals. Federer was the clear favorite going into the match as he has a perfect 5-0 record against Dolgopolov.
The 2nd seeded Federer started the match aggressively and was quickly up a break leading 3-1 in the first set. However, Dolgopolov battled hard and even got a break point with Federer serving for the first set at 5-4. However Federer was not to be denied as he won the first set with a huge serve that Dolgopolov was unable to return.
Dolgopolov started the 2nd set strongly and the match proceeded with both players holding their service games. Then Federer stepped his game to break Dolgopolov's serve to go ahead 3-2. The match was quickly over as Federer broke Dolgopolov again and easily held his own service games.
Federer will proceed to face Richard Gasquet in the quaterfinals. Federer will again be the overwhelming favorite as he holds a 15-2 record against Gasquet.
