Hyeon Chung defeated Andrey Rublev 3-4, 4-3, 4-2, 4-2 to win the NextGen ATP Finals. Chung also won his first ATP tour singles title with this win. Chung had been blazing red hot in this tournament as he won all his group matches before defeating Daniil Medvedev in a thrilling semifinal. This was the second time Chung would be playing Andrey Rublev in the tournament as Chung had earlier dismantled him 4-0, 4-1, 4-3. Thus Rublev was hoping to play differently and upset Chung in the final.

Andey Rublev started the match strongly by winning the first set 4-3 (7-5). However, Hyeon "The Professor" Chung once again figured out his opponent and increased his level of play as he survived a tough second set tiebreaker.  The rest of the match was straight forward for Chung as he kept Rublev at bay to win the match in 4 sets.
